GARDAI are following a definite line of enquiry after reports of a man in his 20s claiming to be from Irish Water, went from door to door demanding money to connect the water supply in the past week.
The man was in Rockwell Estate and the Oakpark area wearing a boiler suit as he demanded €50 from householders, convincing two elderly people to part with their money on Wednesday, October 8 between 11.30am and 12 noon.
Gardai are stressing to the public that nobody from Irish Water demands money from householders on the door, nor do they need access to homes.
A Garda spokesperson said they have identified a suspect and an arrest is imminent.
