Man Who Died In Limerick Crash Was Lixnaw Native

Garda AccidentTHE man who died in a car accident in Limerick on Tuesday was a Lixnaw native.

Roibeárd Thornton was the only occupant of the car involved in the single car collision on the M7 Motorway on the northbound lane near Junction 28, Castletroy at about 10am.

The crash occurred between Junction 28 and 29 on the M7, not far from his home in Annacotty on the outskirts of Limerick city.

His black Renault Laguna was discovered by members of Limerick City Fire and Rescue Service who were first on the scene where Mr Thornton was pronounced dead. There is information as to what caused the crash.

Mr Thornton (35), a married father of one, who worked as a researcher in the University of Limerick, is brother to sitting Fine Gael Kerry County Councillor, Aoife Thornton.
