A MARCH has been organised for this Saturday at 12pm from Aras an Phobail to Tralee town square in an effort to raise awareness of a campaign to save Tralee Women’s Resource Centre.

The march has been organised by a group determined to save the centre that has provided essential services to women of Tralee for over 32 years.

It was announced two weeks ago that the centre would close on December 6.  The centre provided services including family support, help for women experiencing domestic violence and English language classes for migrant and refugee women.

“It cannot be allowed to close, there are a number of capable women willing to replace the retiring directors to save the service,” said a spokesperson for the group.

“We are marching to call for a stay on the closure to allow for a meeting with the members and directors of TWRC to put this proposal to them. Unfortunately, to date we have been unsuccessful in organising such a meeting. We are calling on as many people as possible to support the march and efforts to save TWRC this Saturday. Unless we act now, the service will be lost forever.”

As a taxpayer, I do not want my taxes supporting (paying for) any gender specific (sexist) organisation in particular.

Growing up in Tralee, I was well aware of a single father who suffer from an abusive relationship and the man had to raise the family by himself. He had no real support back them and from organisations like Tralee Women’s Resource Centre, he would have no support even today, because he is the wrong gender?
That is sexist to him and discriminates towards his family.

I support a social welfare system but the sheer amount of parasite organisations taking taxes in Ireland today is shocking. The current social system is gone too far to the left and is in runaway supporting quangos by taxing the s*** out of ordinary working families who struggle to pay their own mortgages, utility bills and cost of living and of course parasite organisations like this one and they have no choice because the government does it for them with their hard earned money in the form of taxes.
