rsz_mary_odonnell_xTHIS week I took myself to CH Chemist which is like a mecca in Tralee for beauty junkies.

CH Chemist is a family-run business located in the heart of the town. They offer a wide range of products and services from a Pharmacy, Opticians, Photographic counter, Aura Beauty Salon, Cosmetic Counters (Clarins, Clinique, Estée Lauder, Chanel, Lancôme, Shiseido, Fragrances) and other beauty products.

I  caught up with Cindy Walsh , cosmetic manager in CH Chemist to ask her about her hero products. Here she takes us through her top five favourites…

“Trying to decide on my top 5 beauty products is not easy. Not by a mile. There are so many different ones for different uses and I had to really give this some thought. So here goes, My Top 5 (cannot live without) Beauty Products.

1. My moisturiser. Clarins Extra Firming is my absolute favourite. My skin just feels so velvety after using it and it keeps my skin nice and firm.

2. Chanel face tan in Golden. I think I am single handedly responsible for the whole county using this tan cause I never shut up about it. Gorgeous colour, super natural and smells divine.

3. Neck Cream. Clarins have a brilliant one which I use every night. It’s so important to look after the neck and hands as these areas show your age much more than any other place on your body.

4. Beauty Flash Balm, by Clarins. There is a huge difference in how my make up looks when I wear it. Gives a flawless and really polished finish that gives you that “good day” reflection in the mirror. Sure who doesn’t want that??

5. Mascara. I get to try a lot of new products before they hit the shelves and I was recently given a mascara by the brand Isadora and it is AMAZING. It’s called Flashing Volume and the name does it justice. Not in store yet but keep a check on our Facebook page for details.”

A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to receive an Emjoi MicroNail to review before it was available to purchase. This little gadget is made by Emjoi the same people who make Micro-Pedi and I am a massive fan.

So I could not wait to start using the Micro Nail. It is battery-operated and rotates at 360 degrees and up to 1,800 times per minute. It has two rollers, one roller buffs away ridges and the other shines the nails beyond belief.

This is a very handy (pun intended) device for a busy woman who has not the time for regular manicures. If you have ridges, this is for you. I found it great to produce a shine that lasted a good 5-7 days. It really prepares the nail for varnish and when you have varnish on, use the machine again – it gives a gel shine finish.

I caught up during the week with the stunning Marie Staunton, who is a model/gardener and is a big fan of the MicroNail. As she is gardening and also gives lectures she finds this little machine ensures she always looks groomed.

MicroNail is available  in Boots and will be available in pharmacies including CH Chemist  from November. This little gadget gets the thumbs up from me.  RRP €39.95.
