Mary O'Donnell

THIS Summer has seen many beauty launches and it is hard to make out if they live up to their claims, so I have put together my finds for the Summer of 2014.

First up is a mascara from Lancome. Penelope Cruz is the face of this mascara and the mascara, in a beautiful black and white container, is for anyone who wants the false eyelash effect but without the hassle.

The wand has a swan-neck to get to all of those hard to get places. The formula itself is ultra black and holds the lashes in place for 24hrs and gives a long wearing curl.

This does come with instructions and takes a few times to master it and then bingo; falsies in seconds.

It’s available now and retails at €30.

NYX have introduced the curve eyeliner. Start from the inner corner of the eye and draw a thin line to the outer corner. This is so easy to use because of the curve, so if you struggle with liquid liner ,this is foolproof.

Available from now and retails at €15.99.

Anneco is a brand new Irish cosmetic company and it offers mineral makeup.

Mineral makeup is very gentle on the skin and has become very popular but tends to be on the pricey side.  But this company is very price friendly.

Made with 100% pure natural ingredients and has no artificial or chemical additives, the make-up has anti-inflammatory properties, which helps to repair and nourish the skin.

The primer is just great and is the perfect base as it is enriched with vitamin E.

It also conceals fine lines and large pores and a little goes a long way.

CH Opticians UpdateThe foundation itself smells fantastic, also containing essential oils. Making the skin look flawless, it is formulated to minimize fine lines and pores. It comes in 6 shades and costs €19.50.

Also in the range is colour-correcting concealing mineral powders, so redness and dark circles can be disguised.

I get asked a lot where to get a vegan mascara and Anneco has one and it contains natural plant oils and vegetable waxes and also nourishes the lashes.

Ann Shields is the Galway woman behind Anneco.

This woman is a former banker who retrained as a beauty therapist and knows that quality with a good price is very important.

Look out for this brand which is available online at the moment but watch this space as we could see it in Kerry very soon.

Bioque is my serum of 2014 and is being called serum of the stars.

I have being using this serum all Summer and it is amazing. It has deep penetrating active ingredients that make lines and wrinkles less visible and gives the appearance of more youthful skin.

It uses cruelty free ingredients and the active ingredients can penetrate the interior of skin cells, in both the inner and outer layers of skin.

All purchases on the Bioque.ie website are covered by a 60 day 100% money back guarantee.

Expose beauty lounge in Mounthawk, Tralee, has started a novel idea; with every 20 euros you spend, you are entered into a draw for Listowel races.

Twenty-five lucky ladies will have a return coach to Listowel, free entry and race card, lunch and drinks all day in a private box.

Sounds like my kind of day.
