MAURA Moriarty of Ocean View Nursing Home, Camp, was a winner at the Nursing Homes Ireland Care Awards last Thursday.
Maura was named winner of the Nursing Home Catering and Nutrition Award. Kerry was also represented at the awards ceremony by Maeve Poff of Mowlam Healthcare Killarney, who was a finalist in the Nursing Home Registered Nurse of the Year Award category.
Maura is an experienced Chef and has worked as Catering Manager in Ocean View for the last nine years.

She wears her heart on her sleeve, with catering being her passion. She knows each resident, their likes, their dislikes, and more importantly their dietary requirements, ensuring the nutritional needs of all residents are catered for.
It is said the kitchen is the heart of a home. Maura has ensured her kitchen is the heart of Ocean View’s residents home. Her enthusiasm inspires those around her to constantly strive for choice and variety in the daily presentation of high quality nutritional meals.

RTE presenter Marty Whelan hosted the awards ceremony at Citywest Hotel, Co Dublin, on Thursday last with over 400 representatives from the nursing home, older person care and health sectors attending.
Now in their eighth year, the NHI Care Awards recognise care excellence and staff within nursing homes that are enhancing the lives of persons entrusted in their care.
Nominations were invited from over 370 Nursing Homes Ireland member nursing homes, located in communities across the country. They were submitted by nursing home residents, visitors to nursing homes, staff, and the general public.
