Mayor Of US City Visits Tralee With View To Possible Twinning

THE Mayor of Holyoke, Massachusetts visited town this week to open discussions on a possible twinning arrangement between his home town and Tralee.

Mayor Alex Morse met with the Mayor of Tralee, Cllr Terry O’Brien and other representatives from Kerry County Council including Cathaoirleach Cllr Michael O’Shea and Chief Executive, Moira Murrell.

It is one of a series of partnerships which Kerry County Council is exploring with US cities and counties where large groups of Kerry immigrants settled.

Mayor Morse and his delegation also visited Blennerville Windmill, Kerry County Museum, IT Tralee, the Kerry Technology Park and the Tralee Bay Wetlands Centre.

He also met with Colm McEvoy, CEO of the Kerry Education and Training Board and Kieran Ruttledge, CEO of Tralee Chamber Alliance and visited the Rose Garden in Tralee Town Park where the names of some 20 Holyoke Rose Finalists are inscribed in the Rose Wall including Kathy Welsh, the 1970 Rose of Tralee.
