THE site of the old Baily’s Corner on Ashe Street will come alive again, as a new pub is set to open there this July.

Patrick McCarthy of Paddy Mac’s has taken the lease on the premises and his sons, Tommy and Pat, will take the reins in the new venture.

Refurbishment work started in the premises on Wednesday and the pub will open sometime in July.

The site of the old Baily’s Corner pub on Ashe Street, which will be transformed into a new pub come July.

“The boys have just come back from Australia and it’s the career they want to pursue,” said Patrick McCarthy.

“They were in Australia for two and a half years working in bars over, so they know the business and this is an ideal opportunity for them,” he said.

“It’ll be slightly different to Paddy Mac’s with an old-style feel to it,” said Patrick, who wouldn’t reveal the new name for the bar just yet.

New jobs will be created at the new venture which will be the latest addition to Tralee’s bar scene, with Nightjar in the Square due to open under a new name in the very near future.
