MCDONALDS in Tralee will keep the option to build a new restaurant under consideration, as it looks to refurbish its existing outlet later this year.

Earlier this week, it was reported that there were plans to refurbish the existing restaurant in Manor in September, which would take three weeks to complete and the restaurant would be closed during that period.

Planning permission had been granted  to demolish the old building and construct a brand new restaurant to the east of the existing structure which would be double the size of the previous one.

We asked the company if the decision to refurbish meant the two storey building plans were scrapped.

In a reply the company said: “McDonald’s Ireland is committing to an investment of over €1m in our restaurants in Tralee and Killarney over the next 18 months. This investment will significantly enhance our customers’ experience in Kerry and beyond. We are keeping the option to develop our Tralee restaurant into a two-story structure under consideration but in the meantime will proceed with refurbishing the building in 2017.”

It’s just crazy to close down for 3 weeks to simply refurbish and then build a two-story structure at a short term later date – waste of time and money?
LOL good for the building company anyway!
A two-story McDonalds structure go-ahead-now for Tralee is a no brainer!
