A TRALEE family celebrating 50 years in business were honoured earlier this week at their hotel.

The McGillicuddy family who own and run the Ballygarry House Hotel have been honoured by the Kerry branch of the Irish Hotels Federation at the organisation’s annual general meeting at the hotel, for reaching the milestone.

Padraig McGillicuddy and his mother Pearl accepted a framed acknowledgement of their contribution to the hospitality industry from new Kerry IHF Chairman, Cormac O’Sullivan of Benners Hotel in Dingle, who  was elected to succeed Seán O’Driscoll of the Muckross Park Hotel as branch chairman at the meeting.

Among the other hoteliers honoured at the meeting were Carol and Caroline Hartnett, Foley’s Townhouse, Killarney and Tony, Pauline and Kelly-Anne McSweeney of the McSweeney Arms Hotel – both celebrating 60 years in business – and Tony Huggard of The Lake Hotel, Killarney which is celebrating an amazing 100 years in business.
