TWO sisters decided to do a wonderful thing on Saturday morning before they went off to celebrate their birthdays.

Erin and Megan O’Sullivan from Tralee chopped off their hair at House of Glamour on Castle Street and donated it to the Rapunzel Foundation.

Erin is a sixth class pupil and Megan a third class pupil in Scoil Eoin and both celebrate their birthdays around this time, so before heading off for their double birthday party they wanted to do something special.

“They have been growing out their hair for a number of years and they wanted to do something for charity,” said mom Caroline.

“The Rapunzel Foundation make wigs for children who have cancer and have lost their hair. Erin has a rare condition called Ataxia Telangiectasia and some children and adults with that are likely to get cancer, so Erin wanted to do something to help them,” said Caroline.

The House of Glamour on Castle Street was the location for the cutting and Jodie Murphy and Lorraine Horan were happy to oblige with their hairdressing expertise.

After the locks had gone the girls were enjoying their new bob look.

“It feels really good, my friends won’t recognise me when I go into school,” said Erin.

“I think my classmates will really like what we’ve done because one of my friend’s mom died from cancer,” said Megan.

Well done to both of then for the fantastic gesture and we hope they enjoyed the party!
