The Munster Fusiliers monument at Ballymullen where two plaques containing the names of Tralee people who died during World War 1 will be unveiled this Saturday.

THE unveiling of plaques in remembrance of Tralee people who died in World War I will take place this Saturday at the Munster Fusiliers Monument at  Ballymullen at 3pm.

Two new plaques – one with the 101 names of members of the Munster Fusiliers and the other inscribed with 125 names of soldiers from other regiments – will be unveiled during an ecumenical service beginning at 3pm.

All are invited to attend the service where there will prayers and a wreath laying ceremony, a piper’s lament and the last post will be played, while members of the Royal Munster Fusiliers Association will be in attendance.

Cllr Sam Locke, a driving force behind the project, will also speak during the ceremony.
