THE transition year European Studies class in Mercy Mounthawk  hosted a mock European Youth Parliament for all second year students on Friday.

Kerry Independent Deputy, Michael Healy Rae, was the special guest speaker on the day and he spoke on a wide range of topics for the students.

The TD answered questions on the forthcoming referendum, Brexit, Russian diplomats, Israel, drink-driving and much more during his time there.

“The event is run by the Transition Years for the second years every year,” said European Studies teacher, Sherma Carey. “They work for about three months on this and will spend the afternoon debating as they would in the European Parliament.”
