TY Active Leisure at Mercy Mounthawk present a cheque to Breda Dyland of Kerry Cancer Support Bus at the school on Tuesday.

TWO cheques were presented recently to worthy causes thanks to the actions of students at Mercy Mounthawk Secondary School.

Yesterday, TY Active Leisure presented a cheque for €1358.30 for Kerry Cancer Support Bus after they ran a First Year Olympics, 2nd Year Basketball blitz, First year girls football blitz and a staff versus students basketball match.

John Drummey of the Kerry Mental Health Association accepts a cheque from Mercy Mounthawk TY students with Ms Healy.

Last week, the ‘I am what I am’ Young Social Innovators group at the school presented a cheque for €644 to John Drummey of the Kerry Mental Health Association after they held a fundraiser involving baking and selling cookies.

The students project is about body image, fast fashion, the pressures on young people to look and dress a certain way and the impact of all of this on their mental health.
