WE had some lovely weather up until yesterday afternoon but the autumnal weather is truly here now.

Things will deteriorate tonight as Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow – Wind warning for Kerry, Cork and Clare. Very windy conditions are expected to develop in parts of Munster overnight and during Thursday morning.

Southerly winds veering west to northwest will reach mean speeds of 55 to 65km/h at times, with gusts of 90 to 110km/h, highest in coastal areas and on exposed hills and mountains where winds may temporarily exceed these thresholds.

Given the time of year with many trees in full leaf, there is a greater potential for wind related impacts. The warning is valid from 11pm tonight until 12 noon on Thursday.

As well as those winds, it’s also set to be quite wet tonight and tomorrow with some heavy showers broken by some sunny spells. Friday is set to be a drier day, but temperatures will be cool at around 10°c. The ‘Indian Summer’ looks over.
