WITH two months to go until the opening of the new Palliative Care Unit at University Hospital Kerry, Kerry Hospice Foundation received another boost on Thursday when they were presented with a large cheque.

The money was raised at a Midsummer’s Ball at the Rose Hotel on June 9, with Miriam O’Callaghan as special guest for the evening along with RTE colleague and Kerry native Katie Hannon.

There was over 140 people in attendance at the €80 a head event and — after costs — the event raised €10,502 which was presented to Ted Moynihan of Kerry Hospice at the new centre.
