SO Mike Griffin had a good time in Rio last night.
The Na Gaeil man had a ticket for the World Cup final and saw Mario Götze – who played in Listowel in an U16 international for Germany against Ireland back in April 2008 – score the winning goal against Argentina in extra-time.
But Kerry has another link to the World Cup winners after Mike got German midfielder, Mesut Ozil to sign his Na Gaeil jersey.

Mike spotted the German players celebrating in a certain part of the ground so he made his way down and managed to inveigle his way towards the Arsenal star.
Ozil’s scrawl joins other World Cup winners Diego Maradona, Patrick Vieira, David Trezeguet and Fabio Cannavaro on the shirt. It’s going to make some amount of money when it’s auctioned off for charity!

Mike also filmed Irish fans making some noise on the streets of Rio on the eve of the final. Anyone know who the guy in the Kerry shirt is?
