CLLR Mikey Sheehy was elected as the new Mayor of Tralee this morning.
The councillor was proposed by his Fianna Fáil party colleague, outgoing Mayor Johnnie Wall and seconded by Labour councillor Terry O’Brien, who will be Deputy Mayor for the coming year.
Mayor Sheehy said he was honoured to represent the town and looked forward to working with fellow councillors and council management.

In the year ahead, he said he would focus on the Tralee Fenit Greenway which he described as an incredible tourism and community asset to the area.
He said the amenity will afford opportunities for a number of localities and will be enhanced further when it links to the North Kerry Greenway. He insisted that a link to Ardfert village with the greenways is essential.
Mayor Sheehy said the housing issue would be another focus during his tenure, as well as healthcare and education issues.
