Sports Capital Programme:
Milltown/Castlemaine GAA were delighted recently to hear the very positive news that we have been allocated Government funding of €150,000 under the latest round of the Sports Capital Programme. The funding will be used for the completion of our field development plan which has seen us make tremendous improvements over the last number of years to the club grounds. This application was submitted under the heading of ‘A Future for All’ which places a big emphasis on inclusion in our club as our community continues to grow.
Well done to our club committee members who submitted a very detailed application to secure the funding and also a particular word of thanks to Minister for Education and Kerry TD Norma Foley and Deputy Government Chief Whip Brendan Griffin TD for their support throughout the process which was vital.

Congratulations:
Well done to club player Cillian Burke on his recent appearances for the Kerry U20 side against Cork and Galway in the John Kerins Development League. Kerry have racked up two convincing wins thus far, beating Cork 3-16 to 0-13 and Galway 0-13 to 0-06.

Operation Transformation:
Our collective efforts saw us walk from Milltown to Cape Town in South Africa with over 1000 kilometres to spare.
A big well done to absolutely everyone who walked and a special mention to Lorraine O’Sullivan finishing top of the pile pushed all the way by a fantastic effort from Colin Sweeney just behind. Lorraine walked approximately the equivalent of from Paddy Burke Memorial Park to London in the space of only 5 weeks with Colin just 10 km behind incredible stuff. And John O’Neill completing the podium too with plus 600km walked.
We will have one more walk and final weigh in on Wednesday night for those who would like to partake.
The weather hasn’t always been the best and we have had some interruptions with Covid and the likes but most importantly you all got out there to walk.
The aim at the start of this was to get people meeting each other and walking in pairs, trios, groups and I think we achieved that together. Well done everyone and keep up those groups throughout the year.
