Annual Invitational: U-11 Boys and U-10 Girls Blitz
On behalf of Milltown/Castlemaine GAA we would like to thank each club that participated in our U-11 Annual Invitational Blitz. It was a very busy day on Sunday and all the spectators were treated to exceptional games of football. The blitz has been run by our local volunteers for 15 years raising thousands of euros for many different groups and charities. The club was delighted to resume this event following the postponement of the blitz due to Covid over the past two years.

A massive thank you for the support and generosity given towards our blitz, with all funds raised today going towards our GAA 4 All group. It was a day full of fun and laughter and we were blessed with the weather.

Pictures will be posted on our club social media accounts as the week progresses.

Molyneaux Cup: Quarter-Final Result and Shield Semi-Final Fixture

Milltown/Castlemaine’s Senior ‘B’ team came up against Dr. Crokes at the Paddy Burke Memorial Park, Milltown last Friday in the Quarter-Final of the Molyneaux Cup. After an end to end contest it was the Killarney men who advanced to the next round after a 3-11 to 3-08 victory. Hard luck to our players and management who put in a great performance on the evening but just came up short.

The team will now take on Kerins O’Rahillys ‘B’ at 6:30pm on Friday, September 9th at Strand Road, Tralee in the Molyneaux Shield Semi-Final. The winners will take on either Laune Rangers ‘B’ or Austin Stacks ‘B’ in the final next week.

Kerry Coiste na nÓg Lee Strand U-15 County Football Championship: Shield Final Result
Hard luck to the Mid Kerry U-15 football side and their management who came up just short after a pulsating County U-15 Championship Shield Final against West Kerry in Austin Stack Park, Tralee last Wednesday evening which went all the way to extra time before the West Kerry men triumphed. Milltown/Castlemaine had no fewer than 10 players on the panel and Stephen Roche was involved in the management team.

Milltown/Castlemaine’s Minor side (U-17s) were back in action last Saturday for the first time in a number of weeks. They travelled to Farranfore to play Firies in Round 1 of the Keane’s Supervalu County Minor Club Football Championship and came away with a very impressive 4-13 to 2-03 victory.

In the upcoming Semi-Final which is scheduled for this Sunday, September 11th the team will make the long journey to Gallarus where they will meet An Ghaeltacht at 12 noon. All support is welcome.

U-9s: Blitz and Upcoming Fixture
Milltown/Castlemaine’s U-9 boys and their management braved the elements on Friday evening as they made the journey to Churchill GAA where they took part in a mini-blitz. In very challenging weather conditions, the boys and their parents/guardians still travelled in strong numbers to their immense credit. The team had two exciting and equally enjoyable games against the hosts Churchill and also against our near neighbours Laune Rangers before they headed for home to dry off!
The team will be back in action on Tuesday, September 6th (today) when they welcome Firies to the Paddy Burke Memorial Park, Milltown at 6:15pm.

U-11s:
Our U-11 side completed their Central Region campaign recently as they finished their round robin series of games with an away trip to Laune Rangers.

The Mid Kerry fixtures are due out shortly which should mean that there is a game this weekend for the lads but we are awaiting confirmation.

The club would like to take this opportunity to wish Darragh Burke a speedy recovery for the injury he received at the blitz on Sunday in Milltown. No doubt he will be back out playing in the Green and White of Milltown/Castlemaine shortly.
U-13s:

Milltown/Castlemaine’s U-13 Green and White sides have no training scheduled for this coming week.

The group were delighted to have Kerry Senior Football Manager, Jack O’Connor present at a training session recently where he passed on his knowledge of the game and practiced some important skills with all the players. An occasion that was very much enjoyed by both the players and management.
