Months Mind:

On Wednesday July 25th, there will be a mass in Firies Church at 7.30 p.m. to mark the month’s mind of our former senior player and club man Mike Dennehy. RIP.

Under 6/8 blitz:

A great day of football and fun was had at our local field on Sunday afternoon. Our coaching officer, Ian, organised a blitz for our under 6 and under 8 footballers, which was followed by a social gathering in the clubrooms for the children and their families. Whilst enjoying their treats, they were able to watch Kerry versus Monaghan on the big screen! Sincere thanks to all those who helped in any way with coaching, refereeing, traffic management and catering.  A special mile buíochas to all those who brought along some delicious buns, cakes and treats for all to enjoy.

Under 12’s:

Both our under 12 teams gave a brilliant display of football on Friday evening last against Laune Rangers. Well done to Rangers who emerged winners. Get well wishes to one of our own under 12 players, Seán Griffin, who sustained a fracture to his ankle in Friday night’s game.

We look forward to seeing you back on your two feet in the not too distant future Seán.

On Friday next, July 27th, they will continue in the Mid Kerry league with a home game versus Beaufort. The throw in is at 7 pm.

Under 14’s:

Our Green Team had a win over An Ghaeltacht on Monday evening -July 16th, in the Central Region Division 2 competition. Final score: M/C: 4-10, An Ghaeltacht: 1-09.

They will play An Ghaeltacht at home this Monday evening July 23rd in the semi-final with a 7 pm start.

Under 16’s:

Our under 16’s had a comprehensive win over Waterville/Dromid on Wednesday evening last, winning on a score-line of 7/15 to 3/12, in Round 3 of the Lee Strand County League. They are at home to Asdee/B’ford/B’hue on this Wednesday, with a 7 pm start. Special thanks to our Coiste na nOg sponsors-Foleys Spar and Burkes Butchers for their continued support of our underage structure and well done to all the management teams who put so much time and effort into coaching their respective teams.

All Ireland under 16 girls:

Best of luck to Clodagh Evans and Ella Teahan from our club, who are part of the Kerry under 16 team who will play Galway in Toomevara on Saturday next in the All-Ireland Final. These girls have both played starring roles in the games leading up to the final. Well done girls!

Gaelic for Mothers and Others:

Mothers and Others group.

Two teams for the Mothers and Others group in Milltown/Castlemaine travelled to Mallow on Saturday last to partake in the Munster Blitz.

Mothers and Others was set up in 2008 by the Ladies Gaelic Football Association and is aimed at players 21+ who are not registered to play with a club. It has been a huge success in the area over the last couple of months and the teams continued that success onto the field with some fantastic performances on Saturday.

Both teams, made of 9 players each, played straight games of 15 minutes. The Milltown/Castlemaine Green Team played against Athea (Limerick), Banteer (Cork), Shamrocks (Waterford) and St Patrick’s (Tipp) whilst the Milltown/Castlemaine Black Team played – Mallow (Cork) Passage West (Cork), Ferry Bank (Waterford) and Askeaton/Ballysteen (Limerick). Special thanks to all their supporters who travelled to Mallow and cheered them on.

Both teams played extremely well and a big congratulations must go to all of the players, coaches, referees and organisers. Many thanks to Mallow GAA for the use of their fantastic facilities. We appreciate all the work Glenda and Adele put into setting this up in our club as well as the expertise of our trainers Linus, Lorraine, Tanya, Ailish and Emma. We are now looking ahead to the All-Ireland Blitz in Portmarnock in October

Congratulations to our own Gavin Horan and the Kerry Juniors on a thrilling victory in the All-Ireland Junior Championship Football Final on Saturday last July 21st, in Cusack Park Ennis.
