Milltown/Castlemaine GAA Club News

All here at Milltown/Castlemaine GAA wish to extend our deepest sympathies to the family of the late Eileen O’Brien, Brackhill, who died recently.
May Eileen rest peacefully in the company of the angels.

We had a very positive AGM on Friday night last.
Sympathy was extended to all in our community who were bereaved in the past year -with special mention to the families of the late Tommy O’Connor and Mike Dennehy R.I.P.

Our club secretaries provided extensive reports on all the various age groups. It has been a really busy year on the playing field with much progress being made at all levels.

Huge thanks must go to our coaching officer Ian Twiss who has commanded a fantastic team of exceptional coaches to train and mentor all these up and coming footballers -week in week out.

Our chairman Podge Leane acknowledged the wonderful sponsors of our senior board – Larkins Bar and Restaurant and Kelly’s Londis- Topshop.

The equally generous financial support of Foley’s Spar and Burkes Butchers to our underage teams was also acknowledged.

Almas Take Away and Pizzeria have also been extremely supportive to our club and their contribution was aptly noted.

We are very sorry to see Damian McCarthy stepping down as Chairman of Coiste na nÓg/Assistant Chairman.

Damian has done phenomenal work over the past few years and we look forward to seeing him back in the not too distant future.

We are very excited to be commencing phase 2 of our  fantastic development in February. This will consist of the building of a stand with the capacity of just over 200 people. This will be followed by the redevelopment/transformation of our main playing pitch into an all weather playing surface facility.

In the second week of January, we will be launching our fundraising campaign so watch this space …details to follow.  There is no better time to become involved….why not join us !

A huge congratulations to Dr. Crokes who were crowned County Club Champions and to Beaufort who became Munster Junior Club Champions last Sunday.

Commiserations to Kerins O’ Rahillys and Dromtariffe who put up a tremendous battle in their respective games.

The next draw in our fundraising Lotto Jackpot is on Friday December 14th with a jackpot of €6,000  and €250 for a match 3.

Here are our lucky consolation prize winners from last Friday night’s draw.

Nagle Rice Community Centre:
With a debt of€50,000 still outstanding on the above Community Centre, the committee are embarking on their one and only fundraiser for 2017/2018…a night of music and song  with ‘Britain ‘s Got Talent’ singing priest, Fr Ray Kelly.

The concert will be held on December 20th in the Nagle Rice Community Centre. Supporting acts will be Noreen Ashe and Eddie Lee along with the Killorglin Mens Shed Choir.

This building is a wonderful facility for each and every member in our community, regularly used by so many different groups and organisations.

The committee are appealing to you to support this event -proceeds of which will help pay off some of the outstanding debt. Tickets can be purchased at O’ Doherty’s Pharmacy and Burke’s Butchers along with Larkins Bar and O’Shea’s Bar.
