Mid Kerry Senior Championship Final:

Milltown/Castlemaine seniors, sponsored by Larkins Bar and Restaurant and Kelly’s Londis Top Shop, will take on Laune Rangers in the Mid Kerry Senior Championship Final. The game will take place on Sunday next, December 1st, at 2pm in Glenbeigh. We would really appreciate if all in our community would make a special effort to come along and support the management team and panel on Sunday. Don’t forget to wear your club colours too!

Medal Presentation:

We were very privileged to have Na Gaeil and Kerry Senior player Diarmuid O’ Connor as our special guest at our Coiste Na nÓg medal presentation ceremony in Milltown on Sunday November 27th.

Philip O’ Reilly, Coiste Na nÓg chairman opened the proceedings- welcoming all the players and parents. He paid special thanks to the Coiste Na nÓg committee and the fantastic bunch of coaches and mentors. He also complimented all the parents for their support not to mention their culinary and organisational skills!

Kerry senior player, Diarmuid O’ Connor then addressed all the young players and their parents, with particular mention to the U-14 players who competed in Féile this year. He encouraged all the players present to keep up with their training sessions and to listen to their mentors and coaches. Diarmuid reminisced on the many happy days he had as a young boy kicking a ball around our very own Paddy Burke Memorial Pitch in Milltown. And with practice ‘maybe someday you too will get a chance to play with Kerry’, said Diarmuid.

The young footballers listened intently and respectfully to Diarmuid’s words of encouragement and wisdom.  We wish Diarmuid all the best in his up-coming club championship game and also with his Kerry senior career.

After all the medals had been presented and numerous clicks of the camera, our club chairman, Podge Leane, addressed the large gathering- paying particular thanks to our coaching officer Ian Twiss. Ian has done trojan work over the past years, recruiting and up skilling coaches and mentors- thus enabling them to deliver very creative, diverse and enjoyable coaching sessions to our underage players.

Before close of business,Liam Doherty was presented with the prestigious Coiste Na nÓg ‘Club Person of the Year’, for his wonderful commitment to the underage structure in Milltown Castlemaine GAA Club. In his address, Podge also acknowledged the tremendous support of Liam’s wife Suzy.  As the old saying goes-‘Behind every good man is a great lady’!! Well done to you both!
