History made by Presentation Secondary School Footballers:

Presentation Milltown created their own bit of history when they won the Dunloe Cup for first time in their history. A goal in each half by Cillian Burke and Cian Doe sealed a much deserved victory. St. Brendan’s had to wait until the 18th minute of the game for their first score from play.

By then, the Presentation boys had a 6 point lead on a score line of 1-6 to 0-3.

Cillian Burke’s goal in the 13th minute was of 5 star quality and subsequent points from John Power, Keith Evans and Cian Doe gave them a seven point lead.

St. Brendan’s added three points and kept Presentation Milltown scoreless for the next ten minutes. Keith Evans popped over a point to keep Milltown ahead 1-7 to 0-5 at the short whistle.

Presentation Milltown started the second half strong with four unanswered points by the 39th minute. Killian O’Sullivan pointed shortly afterwards for St. Brendan’s- to give a score line of 1-11 to 0-6.

Presentation Milltown’s second goal came by way of Cian Doe, after a brilliant solo run from mid field. The game was well and truly over at this stage but St. Brendan’s never gave up and slotted over 2 more points. Final Score: Presentation Milltown 2-13: St. Brendan’s College 0-8.

Cillian Burke, son of Mike and Ailish, became the first ever Presentation Milltown captain to accept the Dunloe Cup, on behalf of his team. Maith thú to Cillian, Patrick O’Sullivan, Jack Teahan, Anthony Kelliher and Shane O’ Connor from our own club agus an foireann go léir. Bhí sibh tar bharr. Comhghairdeas to their trainer Gavin O’ Grady and selectors John Curtain and Turlough Bonner.

Phase 1 of the clubs development has been completed and we are extremely proud of our all-weather natural sand based training area 1.

This has already alleviated much pressure from our main playing pitch. This funding will now enable the club to proceed with phase 2, which is the development of our main playing pitch and training area number 2 to the same standard as that of training area 1. ]

While we are very grateful to Brendan for securing this funding for us, our club will still need to raise much more money to complete the project. We will continue with our fundraising drive to secure our target to complete phase 2 next year. A lot done…a lot more to do!

School Visits:

There was a very positive feedback from all the local schools in our community, following visits by the newly crowned Mid Kerry Champions. Players and club representatives were wonderful ambassadors for Milltown Castlemaine GAA Club as they chatted, posed for photographs and signed autographs for the very excited pupils in the primary schools. The memory of this day will live long in the hearts and minds of the young and not so young!

Your club would like to commend you all on being fantastic role models. Maith sibh go léir.

‘Taking The Mic’ -just over 13 weeks to go!

Milltown/Castlemaine are proud to present “Taking the Mic” fundraiser on Easter Sunday Night, April 12th 2020, in Ballygarry House Hotel.

It is the first event of its kind for our club and it’s sure to be a roaring success.

“Taking The Mic” is a fundraiser based around lip syncing to a song whilst performing on stage. We have enlisted the talents of Cassie Leen, renowned dance choreographer to help our acts along and ensure everyone reaches their potential/

With places filling up fast for acts to take part, we are looking for friends/businesses/ family/ work colleagues in the locality who want to take the stage and let loose and have some craic for the biggest night for the club in 2020.

With celebrity judges, spot prizes and special guests on the night, it will be an occasion you won’t want to miss!!

All proceeds for this fundraiser will go towards the field development.
