Kerry Senior Ladies:
Comhghairdeas to Ciara Murphy, Caoimhe Evans and Ella Teahan form our ladies club who were part of the Kerry Senior Ladies panel that comprehensively defeated Wexford on Sunday last in Wexford. This was the Round 2 game in the Division 2 Lidl National League. A great achievement to represent your county! They will take on Armagh at home next Sunday. All support will be much appreciated. Keep an eye on FB for the location and time of throw in.
THE: Milltown Castlemaine’s GAA Club fundraiser ‘Taking the Mic’
Two of the twelve acts for ‘Taking The Mic’ have been revealed- Marion’s Hair Studio, Milltown and Milltown Castlemaine Mothers and Others. So we are most certainly guaranteed great hairstyles and sharp moves from these two groups! We will be revealing some of our male acts during the week- so keep an eye on our website www.milltowncastlemainegaa.ie and on our FB Page for updates. Our celebrity judges are already setting out their criteria and preparing their scoring sheets, while the enthusiastic and competitive performers are remaining very tight lipped about their choice of song! All will be revealed on Easter Sunday Night, April 12th, 2020 at Ballygarry House Hotel. Save the date!
MID KERRY LEAGUE:
Mid Kerry Senior Football League: Round 2
Milltown/Castlemaine 1-4 Cromane 1-9, By Dara O’Connor
Milltown/Castlemaine entertained Cromane in Round 2 of the Mid Kerry Senior Football League on Sunday, February 2nd and fell to a five point defeat to the now Alan O’Neil trained Cromane side in a game which was dominated in the main by the very strong breeze blowing down the field. Cromane used it better and took home the 2 points associated with the victory.
Cromane playing with the elements in their favour opened the scoring after a rather scrappy opening period to lead 0-1 to 0-0 after 5 minutes. Milltown/Castlemaine responded well and 1-1 without reply following a point from Dylan O’Neil and a well taken goal by John Dennehy seen the hosts lead 1-1 to 0-1 after 12 minutes. Cromane took control for the remainder of the first half from here on however with some very clinical finishing and 1-5 without response seen them open up a 1-6 to 1-1 lead. Dylan O’Neil through a pointed effort from play taken very well reduced that gap temporarily but the deficit for the home side was extended once again before the half time whistle as another Cromane point seen them carry a five point lead into the break, leading 1-7 to 1-2.
Despite the wind being very much in the hosts favour after the interval, it mattered little in the overall scheme of things as Cromane managed the ball better and held their own very much so matching Milltown/Castlemaine’s tally of 0-2 in the whole second half with the same themselves ensuring they ran out five point winners. Darren Houlihan registered Cromane’s two scores both from placed ball, great scores it must be said from distance whilst Pa Wren and Dylan O’Neil were the two players to add to Milltown/Castlemaine’s tally despite a number of other efforts which either dropped short or sailed wide of the post. A good win for the visitors in challenging conditions for both sides and a disappointing defeat for the hosts who will have to bounce back in their remaining three games in the Mid Kerry League against Laune Rangers, Glenbeigh/Glencar and Keel in the weeks ahead.

Congratulations to Peter Keane and the Kerry senior panel on their victory over Galway in Round 2 of the National League on Saturday evening last. They travel up North next weekend to take on Tyrone. Go neirí an tádh libh.
