Sympathy:

Our club here in Milltown Castlemaine wish to send sincere sympathy to our chairman, Podge Leane and to his sisters Philomena and Patricia, on the death of their mother Peggy.

Peggy was a wonderful volunteer in our club, always willing to lend a helping hand. In particular, in recent years, she was a great lady to make the nicest cup of tea for all our card players on a Tuesday night.

Our thoughts are also with her grandchildren who are grieving the loss of their nana -and with all of Peggy’s extended family and friends. Leaba i measc na naingeal. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.

Peggy’s funeral mass will be streamed live this Monday morning, January 25th at 11a.m.-on the link https//:www.milltownlistryparish.com

Walk, Jog or Run for fun!

One of our executive and very active coaches, Garry Murphy has come up with a great initiative to get us all out exercising. Over the next 2 weeks, Garry is hoping to get you and me and as many as possible in our families out walking or running. And so he has suggested that we as a community will try to collectively walk/jog/run the distance from our club field to Croke Park- which is approximately 270 kilometres. While staying within your 5km and abiding by government guidelines, we encourage you to head off out and and try a 1/2/3/4 or 5 km. Please text or WhatsApp your distance to Garry (with a photo if possible) and he will record it and add up all the kilometres covered. There will be a draw for 4 prizes for a beanie club hat, club gloves or togs and the best news- a pair of football socks for everyone that takes part. Yipee! Some families have already made a great start with over 60 km completed. So off you go, have fun and most importantly Stay Safe!

CLUB AGM: Friday February 5th:

The Milltown/Castlemaine GAA Club AGM 2020 will be on Friday 5th February 2021 @ 8.00pm. Unfortunately, in these strange and unpredictable times due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the club cannot hold the AGM in the traditional way. This year it will have to be held on Zoom, as per Croke Park, with only the executive in attendance.  Prior to the AGM, the Chairman’s Address, Secretary’s & Treasurer’s Reports, Nominations, Motions and Ballot Papers (if needed) will be sent out to all full members. Any queries arising from the reports can be forwarded to the Secretary and the club will endeavour to answer them within five working days after the AGM. If there are any club members in your household, please share this information with them. Any queries, please contact our club secretary, Mike Carroll on 087/2256548.

Gym/Pitch Closure: No Entry/No Exceptions

Given the current exceptional rise in infection rates of Covid 19 and the increased risk of community transmission, our government and Croke Park have directed that club pitches and gyms must stay closed until further notice. Under the current Government Regulations, neither training nor games are permitted at club level. We are appealing to everyone to please adhere to this ruling and not to enter the grounds until you are allowed to do so.
