The long awaited return to football arrived last Monday evening our U17 side were the first to return on the 26th of April and by the end of this week all juvenile teams will have returned.
It was fantastic to see the smiling faces of the players running out onto the field. Every inch of the fantastic new sand based surface at Paddy Burke Memorial Park was used throughout the week, thank you to all of the volunteers that made this possible.
A big thank you to Covid officer Claire O’Sullivan and to children’s officer Shane Dinham who have been working hard to ensure both Covid and vetting procedures are in place for this week’s return to football.
A huge thanks to all of the coaches and covid supervisors who volunteered at each session, we are still looking for further help in all areas please see the numbers below to volunteer.

Field Development Project:
Over the last week or so there has been a huge effort by volunteers to get Paddy Burke Memorial Park ready for the clubs juvenile members to return to training. Many thanks to all the volunteers who have helped make the return to training possible.
This week the lighting poles have been secured further for our 600 metre community walkway which will have its own lighting system.
The rigid mesh wire panel fencing that surrounds the main pitch is also nearing completion.
There is big news coming up about the field development project so stay tuned during the week to our social media pages.

Field Maintenance:
With the field now seeing plenty of action we would like to thank those responsible for the upkeep of the 20,000 sq metres playing surface at Paddy Burke Memorial Park.
A big thanks to Mike Quirke who has been cutting the field for the past two months and to Emmett Spring who had maintained the field up until that point through the early stages of cutting.
Mike has now been joined on the field maintenance team by Jonathon O’Sullivan and Sean Brosnan. Thank you to the whole team who have been very busy over the past few weeks cutting the field which takes over two hours each cut, three times per week. A big thank you also to Brendan Twiss has also been very busy spreading fertiliser on the playing surface.

Milltown-Castlemaine GAA Club Membership is now open for the upcoming 2021 season for anyone wishing to join or renew your subscription. All players, at every level, must be registered, to ensure that they are covered to train, play, and represent the club.
