Sympathy:

Another link with the teams of the 50’s and 60’s was severed last week with the passing of William Burke, Ballygamboon. William started his football at a young age when up to 30 people from the locality gathered on the family farm to play football.

William went on to play for Milltown Castlemaine and was part of a very successful period which saw them capture the Mid Kerry Championship in 1957,1961,1962 and 1965.

His fine physical stature meant he was a linchpin at mid field in these victories.

William retired in the late 60’s but his interest and support for the club and community remained steadfast throughout the years.

To his wife Marian, son William, daughter Norma, brothers John and Jim, sister Nora along with their extended families, the club sends its deepest sympathy.

Under 14’s:

Hard luck to our under14’s who were defeated by Beaufort in the Mid Kerry Plate Final. The boys put in a fantastic effort. Milltown Castlemaine were unfortunate to be without their captain Cillian Burke who fractured a bone in his hand last week. We wish Cillian a speedy recovery. Special thanks to the management team of Ian Twiss, Stephen Roche, Colin O’ Grady, Damien Whyte and John Murphy.
