SOCIAL WELFARE 1.JPGTHE number of Tralee jobless decreased by 13 in May to 5,425, but this was a minor drop compared other parts of the county which fared much better during the month.

May ushers in what is traditionally seen as the beginning of the summer tourist season, so it was no surprise to see the visitor hotspots of Killarney and Kenmare record a significant drop in the live register.

Killarney had 186 fewer jobless and Kenmare 103. Dingle too recorded a fall of 77 as the summer season kicked into action.

May marks a third straight month where the live register has decreased in Tralee, while countywide, there are 425 less people signing on since April. The number on the live register in the county now stands at 12,296.
