MOYDERWELL and Presentation pupils really got into the spirit of the Tralee 800 celebrations and were rewarded by winning a schools competition.

Schools around Tralee were asked to take part in exploring the town’s history and the medieval aspect to the anniversary. The Kerry County Council-sponsored competition was run alongside this year’s festival and Mayor of Kerry, Cllr Pat McCarthy was on hand to present medals to the winners.

Around 60 third and fifth class pupils took part from Moyderwell and really showed enthusiasm for the competition, explained teacher Janeve Maguire.

“They made castles and swords, a banquet, jester hats and more. They loved it and they loved getting the medals as well!” said Janeve.
