Moyderwell pupils prepare for ‘The Lion King’ next week.

MOYDERWELL Mercy Primary School will come alive to the sounds of the jungle as they stage ‘The Lion King KIDS’ in the assembly hall.

With a cast of almost 300 students it’s set to be a spectacular production on Wednesday, April 27 and Thursday, April 28 at 11.30am and 7.30pm each day.

The hour long musical, designed for primary school performers, is based on the Broadway production directed by Julie Taymor and the 1994 Disney film.

All children from 1st to 6th Class have a cast, chorus or production-team part. The production contains approximately 290 students directed by Bryan Carr (School of Performing Arts) and staff from Moyderwell.

The Lion King KIDS performance is open to the public and admission is by ‘prepaid Ticket only’. Tickets are available in advance now  from the school office (066 7124403). Price €8 per adult; €15 for two adult tickets; Children €5.

The Lion King KIDS tells the story of the epic adventures of a curious cub named Simba as he struggles to accept the responsibilities of adulthood and his destiny as king.

Along the way, the young lion encounters a colourful cast of characters.  To claim his rightful place on the throne and save his beloved Pridelands, Simba must find his inner strength and confront his wicked Uncle Scar. The Lion King KIDS features classic songs from the 1994 film such as “Hakuna Matata” and the Academy Award-winning “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” as well as additional songs penned for the Broadway production.
