Murder Investigation Launched After Death Of Tralee Woman In Cork

THE woman whose body was discovered in a house in Cork in the early hours of Monday morning was from Tralee.

Gardaí launched a murder investigation after the body of Nicola Collins, 38, was discovered at a house in Pophams Road, Faranree, Cork this morning, Monday  at approximately 3.20am. The mother of three had been living in Togher in Cork City, but was originally from Tralee according to RTE News.

The body of the deceased was taken to Cork University Hospital where a post mortem was carried out by the Assistant State Pathologist.

The scene was preserved for technical examination.

An incident room has been established at Mayfield Garda Station and a Family Liaison Officer has been appointed in this case.

A 42-year-old man has been arrested following the discovery and is being held at Mayfield Garda Station in connection with the death.
