THE Christie Hennessy Celebration of Songwriters and Musicians is just weeks away now and it’s set to be a great weekend featuring excellent music talent and special guest, Irish singer-songwriter, Mundy.
This years event will once again be taking place at the Ashe Hotel in Tralee Friday, November 1 and Saturday, November 2 and is a must for music fans.
The Friday night will feature the Troubadour Club night with eight different bands and solo artists playing three original songs. The acts are Pam & Joe O’Connor, Kieran Kelly, Seamus Harty, Queenless Kings, Liam O’Connor & Band, Roy Buckley, Loughy, Dara, Syrens and Glenn Dunleavy. Tickets cost €10 and include a free pint at the bar before 9pm.

Saturday night will feature 10 acts performing one song each in the Cara Credit Union Sponsored IMRO Song Contest, with Mundy appearing as special guest on the evening.
Also during the weekend, Matt Kelleghan (Moving Hearts and sound engineer for Planxty & Christy Moore) will give a special workshop in The Ashe Hotel on the Saturday at 2pm.
The theme will be ‘the importance of live sound at gigs, song arrangements, pre-production and recording’. For more about the festival, check out their facebook page here
