A FULL house braved the weather to come out and see music legend, Albert Hammond, in Siamsa Tire on Tuesday night.
His songs have been responsible for the sale of over 360 million records worldwide including over 30 chart-topping hits.
The English born musician who has penned the hits ‘The Air That I Breathe’ and Starship’s ‘Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now’ to name but two, has been camped in Kerry since playing in Killarney on Friday night.
Although staying in the county over the past few days, Hammond was keeping far from the elements.
“They put me in a van, then they take me to the shows,” he joked.

“Because of my voice I can’t be out in the cold, wind and damp so I get to see very little, but hopefully I’ll come in the summer so I can see some of the countryside,” he said.
The father of Albert Hammond Jr, lead guitarist with alt-rock band The Strokes, he will finish off his Irish dates with two shows in Cork followed by one each in Dublin and Belfast.
“We fill up the places, I guess they like the music. It’s a very intimate show, I get to come down to the people. Ireland is my favourite place, they sing every song, it’s great.”
Though he didn’t get out much while in Tralee, Albert Hammond was highly complimentary of the food which was as he says “the best food while in the United Kingdom”. High praise, despite the dodgy geography faux pas!
