A FANTASTIC event for a great cause was held on Friday at a pub on Pembroke Street.

Numerous musicians from all over town and beyond, held a music marathon at Joe’s Place all in aid of Pieta House.

“We decided on a music marathon rather than a 5k walk or a regular fundraiser because we’re all musicians and we said we’ll stick to what we know,” said Declan Healy, the co-organiser of the event along with Keith O’Sullivan.

“We’re selling raffle tickets for 27 spot prizes generously given to us by businesses around Tralee. Suicide knocks at every family’s door and we want to do our best for Pieta House. The issue has come to many people and we want to give something back,” said Declan, when we called early in the evening on Friday and the place was hopping.

“We picked a good day for it as people came in after Gold Cup day. They’re staying for the music and they’re after seeing the raffle prizes as well so they’ll stay for that as well!” said Declan.

It was a long, entertaining night and a load of money was raised for a great cause. Well done to all involved.
