Na Gaeil U14 Kerry Féile winning team that travel to Monaghan in June for the National Finals

U14    Na Gaeil U14’s lost their final County League game away to Ardfert last Wednesday evening. Despite the defeat, Na Gaeil finished second in the league and have earned a home semi-final. Their opponents in the semi-final next Wednesday evening at 7 pm in Killeen are Castlegregory.

The two sides met earlier in the league with Na Gaeil winning by one point in a very exciting game, which could have gone either way. We are expecting the semi-final to be another keenly contested game.

Thanks to everyone who helped out in the bag pack on Saturday. We raised much needed funds which will go back into the juvenile section of the club.

U10    Last Sunday we welcomed John Mitchels U10’s to Killeen. Na Gaeil had over 20 boys so we played two teams and everyone got plenty of game time. This Thursday (18th) we will take part in the next Town Board Go-Games Blitz. It’s on in Connolly Park and all players are asked to be there at 6.10pm please. Please remember to bring your mouth guard & a bottle of water.

U8    Our U8’s had a great run out against John Mitchels on Sunday.  Once again we had fantastic numbers. It’s great to see so many players improving every week. Next week we go back to the training ground to fine tune before our next outing which will be the 2nd round of the town blitz which will be hosted by Austin Stacks on the week commencing the 22nd May. Final arrangements to be agreed.  Training will at the Na Gaeil pitch next Sunday 21st at 11 am sharp. Bring gum shields and water and in the meantime keep practising!!

U6    Another great turn out last Sunday meant another great training session for the under 6 boys and girls. Obstacle courses and plenty other fun drills were on offer to ensure all players left with smiles on their faces! Well done all!

Na Gaeil Ladies    Na Gaeil Ladies v Scartaglen, Div 2 Senior County League

We played on Sunday morning away to Scartaglen in windy but dry conditions. Meagan got us off to a great start with an early goal.

Scart replied with a goal but after a great pass from Ayesha to Jadyn, we were a goal up again after 30 seconds. We were dominating with Clodagh McHugh finding Ayesha for her 1st point of the game.

We started to dominate the game with goals from Meagan, Sibeal and Jadyn. We were using the wind to great effect with Meabh being instrumental at centre forward. Another 2 points from Sibeal and Sarah before Meagan scored her 3rd goal of the 1st half with another bursting run through their defence.

Scartaglen had the strong wind for the 2nd half but our defence was standing strong with the ever fighting Susan at the heart of the defence with Clodagh O’Connor, Maura and Eimear helping her, they were protecting our keeper Laura (who made her Championship Debut on Saturday with Kerry).

Nora was handling all the runners through the centre allowing Brid and Sarah to get forward and help our forwards and midfield. Eilis got our 1st point of the 2nd half after some fine work from Mairin. Mary came on and found Jadyn in space for a point before Eilis got another point after a great run from Brid. Meabh found Caoimhe on the edge of the box and she hit the back of the net.

Aine replaced Laura in goals which enabled Laura to play in the forwards for 10mins and helped Meabh and Ayesha to score a few more points. Kate Anne found Erika but Scart made a great save with Mags also getting a shot blocked for goal. Scart scored a late goal and a point before the whistle was blown on another fine performance from our girls. Final Score 7.10 to 2.01

Na Gaeil Ladies U12 v Beale/Ballyduff, North Kerry Div 2 Plate Final

We played away to Beale/Ballyduff in the Div 2 Plate Final in Ballybunion on Sunday evening in blustery conditions.

We played with the wind in the 1st half. Siena got us our 1st point followed by a goal after Chloe won a long ball from Priya and passed it off to Siena and she hit the back of the net. Beale/Ballyduff got their 1st point. Cara went up the other side and scored a point.

Sorcha scored another point before Beale/Ballyduff scored a late goal to leave us a point up at halftime. We had it all to do in the 2nd half, playing against a strong wind. It was going to be tough against a big strong Beale/Ballyduff side.

Caoilinn scored 2 points with another point from Sorcha. Beale/Ballyduff replied with 2 points and a goal but the girls dug deep and showed real fight. Siena and Cara scored a point apiece to give us a narrow lead.

Our defence of Ava, Niamh and Shania started to win any long ball that came in with Elsie Peg, Aisling and Aoife Barrett controlling around the middle of the field as they were winning any ball coming out and feeding our forwards.

Aoife Hartnett and Jessie found Caoilinn with a pass to score another point. Caoimhe won the ball from the kickout, passed to Grace who passed to Sorcha who then found the back of the net.

Aoife Barrett, Siun and Cara scored another point apiece. Katie won a long ball and passed to Caoilinn for another point. Roisin made a great save to keep us on top. More points from Siena, Caoilinn and Cara helped to finish the game strongly with a brilliant 2nd half performance. Final Score 2.13 to 2.03
