Seniors    Na Gaeil travelled to Gneeveguilla on Saturday evening last to take on the home team in Round 8 of the County League.

Na Gaeil started brightly and totally dominated the first quarter reeling off 5 points without reply. The impressive Jamie Lowham scored two and one each came from Mike Griffin, Diarmaid Herlihy and Seamie O’Neill. During this period Na Gaeil created many more scoring opportunities but failed to capitalise on them.

Gneeveguilla slowly settled into the game during the second quarter scoring 3 excellent points on the trot. Mike Griffin pulled one back for Na Gaeil on 25 minutes but Gneeveguilla responded and scored the last two of the half.

Timmy Culloty made a point blank save to deny Gneeveguilla a certain goal to leave the score at the interval Na Gaeil 0-06; Gneeveguilla 0-05.

Seamie O’Neill scored a good point for Na Gaeil 3 minutes into the 2nd half. But Gneeveguilla followed with two of their own.

Na Gaeil found their rythm again and reeled off four points without reply, two coming from the boot of Dara Carmody and one each from Andrew Barry and Dave Culloty. Gneeveguilla scored a point on 23 minutes but Jamie Lowham replied almost instantly.

Na Gaeil were now 4 points ahead with 6 minutes left and looked comfortable. But some sloppy play allowed Gneeveguilla back into the game and they scored the next point.

They attacked again from the kick out and were straight through on goal only to see their goal bound shot deflected out for a 45 by Kieran Donovan.

They scored the 45 and followed up with another point but referee Paddy White blew the final whistle and Na Gaeil won by the minimum. Final score: Na Gaeil 0-12; Gneeveguilla 0-11.
