Na Gaeil Annual Cycle   Na Gaeil Annual Cycle took place on Saturday last and was a great success considering that it clashed with the Kerry v Mayo match in Croke Park.

Over 60 cyclists took part, some cycling the 40km route and the more experienced cyclists doing the 80km route. The weather conditions were ideal for the event.

Everybody thoroughly enjoyed themselves and it was great to see so many young people taking part. Thanks to everybody who helped to make it such a successful and enjoyable event: The families that provided all the delicious and tasty food.

There was a huge array of tasty sandwiches, scones, cakes, buns, tea, coffee and delicious hot soup.

Thanks to the people who served the food in the clubhouse all day, the Civil Defence for providing the ambulance and the stewards for their presence at the various traffic junctions.

A special thanks also to the people that manned the food stations in Abbeyfeale and Castleisland and to Fr. Casey’s GAA Club Abbeyfeale for the use of their facilities. Last but not least thank you to all the cyclists that took part and supported this fundraising event for the club and helped to make it such a wonderful occasion.

Replay   It didn’t happen for Kerry in the All Ireland semi final replay against Mayo in Croke Park on Saturday last but that is the nature of sport.

We will have better days ahead with many fine young players in the county at the moment. Jack Barry has had a great first season in the Kerry jersey winning a National League title at midfield earlier in the year.

He made his championship debut in the summer against Clare and put in some great performances against Cork, Galway and Mayo. We look forward to having him back on club duty for the remainder of the season.

U16    The Tralee Town Board Suits Select U16 League will commence shortly. Na Gaeil play Ardfert away in round1 on Wednesday evening September 6th at 6.30pm. They play Austin Stacks at home in round 2 on Sunday September 10th at 12.00pm.

U6 & 8    All roads led to Abbeyfeale on Sunday last for our annual trip to Fr. Casey’s. We had two teams in both age groups and all players showed mighty spirit and determination. A huge thank you to Fr. Casey’s for hosting the event and providing a splendid post-match spread.

Clothes Collection    Na Gaeil are holding a fundraising clothes collection over the next few weeks. If anyone has bags of old clothes to dispose of please drop them up to the clubhouse when it suits you. It would be much appreciated.
