Na Gaeil players Fergal Barry, Diarmuid O’Connor and Ryan O’Neill with the Tommy Markham Cup.

All Ireland Minor Final    Comhghairdeas, congratulations and well done to a fabulous Kerry minor team that made history last Sunday when winning their fourth All Ireland title in a row.

Well done to Peter Keane and his management team. Comhghairdeas, congratulations and well done, especially, to Na Gaeil’s three brilliant stalwarts, Diarmuid O’Connor winning his second celtic cross, had an outstanding game at centre field.

Ryan O’Neill also winning his second All Ireland medal, played well when given game time and appeared in every match that the Kerry Minors played in during the year.

Fergal Barry a member of the extended Kerry Minor Panel had a great campaign with the Kerry U17 squad earlier this year and is following in the footsteps of his older brothers Jack and Andrew.

Having watched these boys put in the effort since under six it is great to see them reach the top. They are a credit to themselves, their families, coaches, club and county.

They are outstanding role models for our young aspiring players and it is great to see them mentor the underage teams every Sunday morning and attend their games during the week.

We wish them all the best for the future in football, upcoming examinations and life generally. We look forward to meeting them in the clubhouse in the not too distant future when they bring along the Tommy Markham Cup.

County League    Na Gaeil will play Ballymacelligott in Round 11 of the County League on Sunday next September 24th at 2pm in Ballymacelligott. Winners of this game will go up as Division 3 Champions.

U10    Last Sunday we travelled to play Churchill. We had over 20 players on the day so everyone got plenty game time.

Thank you to Churchill for hosting us. Next Saturday we will be taking part in a blitz in John Mitchels pitch. Further details will be given at training next Thursday evening. Remember that it’s essential that all players wear their mouth guard at training sessions and in matches.

Na Gaeil Ladies    Na Gaeil Ladies v Finuge/St Senans, Div 2 County League

This was the last round in the league, while both of us were in the League Semi Finals, whoever won today finished 2nd and would have home advantage in the semis. We started brightly from the off with Clodagh O’Connor intercepting a ball and finding Caoimhe to score the 1st point of the game.

Jadyn got our next point followed by points from Nora and Clodagh McHugh. Sibeal scored two more points after Erika found her with two superb passes. Nora finished off the 1st half with two more points.

Defensively for the 1st half we were strong, with Laura in goals. We conceded 1 point with Susan, Deirdre, Mags doing well and with Clodagh O’Connor, Mary and Muireann in front of them, Finuge/St Senans struggled to get through.

Our half forwards Eimear, Meabh and Erika gave their defence no peace at all. Clodagh McHugh, Caoimhe and Sibeal were lively in the forwards, making runs and causing havoc and Finuge/St Senans struggled to contain them.

Martina came on at half time and we carried on as we finished the 1st half with a great solo goal from Jadyn with a point apiece from Sibeal, Meabh and Nora. Finuge/St Senans did make a comeback scoring a quick 1 .03 but we shored up the defence again with Deirdre and Susan taking control.

We went back up the other side and scored a goal from Jadyn followed by points from Caoimhe and Erika. Aine came in for Laura to finish out the game. We now have Finuge/St Senans in the County League Semi Final.

It was a great display from the team and with so many players unavailable, there is real competition for places as we have County League Semi Finals and Mary Jo Curran A Semi Finals to be played yet.

Team: Laura Fitzgerald, Aine O’Sullivan, Deirdre Kearney, Muireann Moriarty, Susan Fernane, Eimear Nolan, Martina O’Connor, Clodagh O’Connor, Mary O’Connell, Nora O’Connell, Meabh Barry, Erika O’Sullivan, Mags Maunsell, Sibeal Casey, Clodagh McHugh, Caoimhe Hanafin, Freya O’Connor, Sarah Barrett, Mags Maunsell.

Best of Luck to Our U15 Ladies team that play Castleisland in the U15B County Championship Final in Farranfore at 6.00 on Monday the 18th September.

U16 Ladies    We played Legion at home in the U15 B County Championship semi final last Monday.  Following a heavy defeat to this opposition earlier in the season at U16 level, our girls did not want a repeat.

We were missing a few players but still managed to put out a pretty strong team.  Sophie was captain and having lost the toss we ended up playing into the wind in the opening half.

This did not deter the Na Gaeil girls and Abi opened the scoring with a pointed free after 3 mins.  Shortly after Mary made a driving run through the Legion defence and ended up with the ball in the back of the net.

Legion came back with 2 points before Muire and Ciara cancelled them out with 2 well taken points.  Siena, under tremendous pressure managed to evade her defenders and slotted the ball home for our second goal.

Legion scored two more points before Mary closed out the half with another home point.  Great praise must go to Megan, Sophie, Isabelle, Eimer, Sarah and Caragh who all defended strongly to keep the Legion score to just 4 points.

With the breeze favouring us in the second half, Legion found it difficult to get up the pitch into scoring positions while on the other side, Mary and Freya were controlling midfield and supplying good ball to the forwards.

There was good inter play from our front players leading to points from Ciara, Muire, Mary and Sarah.

This was a good team performance and when the girls play together as a team and encourage each other they are a force to be reckoned with.  We also got to bring on some of the younger players, Kelsey, Adelaina, Wickita and Jessica to get a taste of the action.

Final score Na Gaeil 2 – 10 Killarney Legion 0 – 4.

Best wishes to Siena Lucey who took a knock during the game and had to come off. She’s not the biggest player but she is made of tough stuff and we are looking forward to having her back on the pitch soon!

We play the winners of Castleisland and Fossa in the final.  We also have a number of North Kerry U16 and Town League matched to get through in the coming weeks, so busy times ahead.  Na Gaeil Abu!
