Juvenile Club of the Year    Everyone in Na Gaeil was delighted when news filtered through on Tuesday night that the club had been awarded Juvenile Club of the year for 2017. The award was presented to Coiste na nÓg club Chairperson Colm O’Súilleabháin, John Keating and Tim Lynch by Tom Keane Chairperson of Kerry Coiste na nÓg.

This award is testament to the great under age coaching structure in the club and to the hard work and commitment of all the club officials, players, mentors, coaches and parents who give so much of their time to Coiste na nÓg in the club. Congrats to all involved on such a wonderful achievement.

Na Gaeil Ladies    Na Gaeil v Finuge/St Senans, Senior Ladies Div 2 County League Semi Final

We played at home on Saturday afternoon in dry but cold conditions. Meagan got us our 1st point from a free after Ayesha got pulled back. Finuge/St Senans came back at us scoring 1.03 without reply. We were struggling to get a grip on the game.

Dearbhla had a shot for a point but hit the upright with Caoimhe in position to get the rebound and find the back of the net. Clodagh McHugh won another free which Jadyn popped over the bar. Just as we were starting to take control  Finuge/St Senans scored 1.01 on the stroke of half time to leave us 5 points down at the break.

We gathered ourselves together at half time, had a quick chat and came out onto the field ready for a battle to try and win the game. Nora won the ball from the throw-in, found Ayesha who struck it beyond the keeper to get us back in the game.

As we were putting on the pressure, Caragh and Mags won a couple of free kicks that Meagan put over the bar to level the game. Muireann, Freya and Susan were now holding their lines well with Aine making a couple of good saves when called upon.

Finuge/St Senans scored another 2 points to give them back the lead but our half backs Clodagh O’Connor, Mary and Sarah combined well to set Nora on a run to score a goal to give us the lead. Mairin and Caragh played in Kate Anne to score a brave goal which left her a bit winded.

As we thought that we controlling the game Finuge/St Senans broke away and scored a late goal to leave us leading by a single point but we held onto possession well to see out the game. Final Score 4.05 to 3.07. Well done to all involved in another exciting game. We can look forward to our County Final v Dr Crokes after a long year.
