Seniors    Na Gaeil play Kenmare Shamrocks in Round 9 of the Senior County League on Saturday next July 14th at 7.30pm in Kenmare.

Minor Football Championship    St. Brendans will play West Kerry in Round 3 of the Minor Football Championship on Thursday July 12th at 7pm in Castlegregory.

U10    Well done to the U10 boys in their games against Kerins O’Rahillys on Sunday morning in Ballyrickard. Training will continue this Thursday evening at 6:30pm and also on Sunday morning at 11am. Don’t forget your gum-shields and water. See you all there!

U8    Na Gaeil U8s were very busy this week, with a Thursday evening training session and a blitz held at Kerins O’Rahilly’s Ballyrickard grounds on Sunday morning.  We fielded three teams.  All our players performed exceptionally and enjoyed a successful tournament. There will be another blitz at John Mitchel’s on Wednesday July 10th (tbc) and training will resume at our Killeen grounds on Thursday and Sunday.

U8 & U10 Girls    Our U8 & U10 girls travelled to Ballyrickard last Sunday morning to play Kerins O’Rahillys. We had 16 players so we split them into 2 teams of 8 and everyone got plenty of game time. For some of our girls it was their first-ever match. Well done to everyone and thanks to our mentors Lloyd, Susan, Helen and Muire. Thanks too to Kerins O’Rahillys for inviting us and for providing refreshments afterwards.

U16 Ladies    Following a break for Junior Cert exams and holidays we had our first game in a while.  We played Scartaglin away in a back game. With a lot of players still away and some out with injuries we had to call on a few under age players to make up the numbers – so a big thank you to Aoife, Caragh, Emma, Keylan and Siena.  We played with the bare thirteen and even though we were into the wind in the first half we managed to go in at half time just two points down.  Things were looking good for the second half and we were beginning to take control of the game and took the lead. The heat and the hard ground was taking effect on a couple of our girls and due to lack of subs Muire and Siena remained on the pitch but were very restricted in their running. Scart, who were very strong through the middle made some late bursts up the pitch and cut through the Na Gaeil defence to get a couple of goals to swing the match in their favour.  Final score Scartaglin 3 -07 Na Gaeil 2 -07.
We are still in a strong position to progress to the semi finals as we are level on points with three other teams but have a better points difference.  Having said that if we can get a result in our final match away to Firies then we would seal second place.  Well done to all the girls and our captain on the night, Megan.  Hopefully our numbers will be strengthened before we play again and we can return to winning ways!  Na Gaeil abu!  Also, a special mention to Na Gaeil’s Mary O’Connell who played in mid field for the Kerry U16’s in the All Ireland semi-final victory over Kildare in what was a tremendous battle that went to extra time.  The Kerry girls will meet Galway in the final on 25th July.
