Na Gaeil Ladies    After a bit of a break, we got our League campaign back underway again as we played away to Castleisland Desmonds on Sunday evening in the Ladies Division 1 County League. Maria Quirke got us off to a quick start with a point in the first minute, quickly followed by points from Meagan and Sarah Cunningham.

With fine play from Nora and Niamh, Mary was played in for the first goal of the game with two more goals quickly scored by Sarah C and Jadyn. Desmonds got their 1st point of the game after 12 minutes but with Emma, Muireann, Sarah Quigley, Brid,Eilis and Kate Anne  prominent in the backs and Sarah Barrett in goals, Desmonds didnt score again till they got a point at the end of the 1st half. But we kicked on and with more points from Sarah C, Maria, Meagan, Eilis, Erika, Jadyn and Blaithnaid and another goal from Clodagh, we had a resounding lead at half time.

Balithnaid won us a penalty at the start of the 2ndhalf which Maria put away. We followed this up with points from Jadyn, Sarah and Niamh. Caoimhe, Freya, Martina and debutant Hilary came in with fresh legs along with Muire coming into the forward line.

Castleisland got themselves a few scores with the aid of the wind in the 2nd half. But with time running out, Brid broke an attack and drove up the field and found Eilis on the run. Eilis made her run and scored a super goal from an acute angle.

The game finished on a scoreline of 6-17 to 1-04. Well done on a good attacking and defensive display. Next game away to Rathmore

Na Gaeil v Beaufort, Div 3 Ladies County League

We played our final game in the Division 3 County League on Sunday against Beaufort. We had a dry evening and used the conditions to our advantage. Beaufort are a strong team but with Cara and Caoilinn controlling midfield and with Aisling, Roisin and Ciara working hard in the half back line, we were giving ourselves a good chance to compete with Beaufort.

It was a tight game but the fire power that we have with Siun, Siena, Eve, Grainne and Sorcha, we were able to get some good scores. As the game was getting tighter and closer, we were able to hold Beaufort back with Aoife in goals and whose handling has been superb all year.

And with Grainne and Elsie Peig in front of her, we had the defence to hold out Beaufort to come away with a great win again on a scoreline of 7-03 to 4-08. Well done on another great team performance where everyone worked hard and played for each other.

Team:  Aoife Barrett, Elsie Peig Rogers, Aisling Casey, Siun Fitzgibbon, Cara Gannon, Siena Lucey, Caoilinn O’Brien, Roisin O’Mahony, Eve Broderick, Grainne Breen, Sorcha Casey,  Roisin O’Mahony, Ciara Lynch, Grainne Quirke.
