Munster Semi Final    Na Gaeil played Michael Cusack’s of Clare in the Premier Junior Munster Semi Final in Austin Stack Park on Saturday in what turned out to be a stroll in the park for the Tralee side.

It took all of five minutes for Na Gaeil to settle in but once they did the scores came thick and fast. Jack Barry fisted over in the sixth minute which was quickly followed up with two points from Diarmaid Herlihy.

Dara Devine pointed two frees and Diarmaid Herlihy scored his 3rd from play in the twelfth minute to put Na Gaeil five ahead. Dara Devine pointed from a placed ball once more before Diarmuid O’Connor split the uprights. It was all one way traffic with Na Gaeil on top in every position and the Clare side were finding it difficult to get to the pace of the game.

Andrew Barry scored a peach of a point on twenty eight minutes. Then after good interplay between Jack Barry and Dan Goggin Diarmuid O’Connor burst through the Michael Cusack’s rearguard to blast the ball past net minder Eoin Farrell.

A minute later Jack Barry passed to Diarmaid Herlihy. He drove in along the end line and sent the ball across to Jamie Lowham who finished it to the net for Na Gaeil’s 2nd goal. Half time score Na Gaeil: 2-08; Michael Cusack’s: 0-00.

Na Gaeil were first out of the blocks after half time with Diarmaid Herlihy and Diarmaid O’Connor firing over from the first two attacks.

Michael Cusack’s registered their first score in the 38th minute when Hugh Kelly pointed from play which was cancelled out by another Dara Devine pointed free. After 40 minutes Na Gaeil management ran their bench. James O’Connor scored a point after being introduced quickly followed by a well worked Darragh Reen point.

The next six points came from the trusty boot of expert place kicker Dara Devine, four from frees and two from play. The hard working Dan Goggin goaled from close range in the 60th minute followed by a pointed free from Michael Cusack’s Domhnall McMahon. Kieran Donovan pointed the last free of the game on 64 minutes.

Final Score: Na Gaeil: 3-20; Michael Cusack’s: 0-02. A rather facile victory for Na Gaeil with their midfield and defence controlling matters from start to finish and ensuring a plentiful supply of ball to the forwards. They will face a much sterner test in Mallow on December 8th when they take on Mullinahone of Tipperary in the Munster Final.
