Na GaeilANDREW BARRY: Carrying on from last year Andrew Barry duly won an All Ireland minor medal last Sunday and did so representing Na GAEIL with aplomb and distinction.

He played superbly throughout, particularly during the early tense period and time again foraged aggressively forward taking on responsibility and dominating both his position and the general midfield area.

COMISERATIONS:And thank you to our kerry senior team who had a great year and who gave their County their all.

NA GAEIL SENIOR LADIES:Intermediate Ladies Munster Championship. We played Ballylanders on Saturday evening in Ballydesmond. Ballylanders started the game strongly dominating possession for the first 10 mins scoring 3 points.

Marie settled us with a point from a long range free. Meagan followed this up with another point. Kate and Marie exchanged points before Kate got us a goal just before half time to go in at half time with a lead of 1.07 to 0.03.

Ballylanders came at us hard early in the 2nd half scoring an early and 2 points before our backs settled again. Riona , Kim and Niamh held the line well with Laura being strong in goals with her kickouts. We dominated play but scores were few as both defences were strong. Jadyn scored a point from a free leaving us with a 3 point lead.

Ballylanders were still making it difficult for us and were very strong physically. Nora and Aine were trying to create space but were marked tightly. With 5 mins left and Ballylanders looking for a goal, Brid, Sarah, Muireann and Deirdre were working hard and keeping Ballylanders at bay. Meagan made a great run on the right wing and scored a vital point to get us a 4 point lead.

Ayesha who worked hard throughout the game followed this up with another fine point and with the experience of Ayesha , Marie, Kate Anne and Eilis holding possession of the ball for the final couple of minutes, we finished strongly. Final Score 1.10 to 1.05. We are out on the 3rd of October in the Munster Semi Final against Fermoy. Venue and time to be confirmed.

NA GAEIL U14:Following all the heavy rain we got a lovely evening for our U14 N.KY match V John Mitchells and the pitch was in great condition. We had a full compliment with the 15 U14’s and the 6 U12’s present on the night, Sophie was captain.

Winning the toss we played with the breeze and the girls settled quickly into the game, they had been instructed to play to their positions and avoid bunching. They adhered to their instructions and played a very balanced game with all players contributing well.

Abi and Caragh were left in the full forward line and received some excellent ball from their team mates out the field, they had their shooting boots on with Caragh notching up a staggering 5-3 and Abi 2-2.

Mary made up the balance of 0-2 to bring the total to 7-7. The Mitchells played well on the night but were up against it with the girls in green playing to their best.

Aine in goal along with her defence kept the visitors to 3-6 giving us our first win in this year’s N. Kerry league. Next match is Duagh away, details to follow. Thanks to all the parents for putting up with all the congestion at the moment with all the sports clashing for the children’s time.
