Na Gaeil Victory Social    Na Gaeil All Ireland Victory Social was held in the Meadowlands Hotel on Saturday night last and what a great night it was with over two hundred people in attendance.

There was a great atmosphere there as everybody is still on a high following our senior team’s magnificent victory in the All Ireland Final in Croke Park a month ago. The function room was festooned in green and white balloons, banners and buntings which really added to the occasion.

The Meadowlands staff served up a most delicious meal which was thoroughly enjoyed by all present. Chairperson Tim Lynch said what this monumental achievement meant to the club and thanked everybody that helped along the way. He said that it was great to see so many of the founder members present at the function and looking so hale and hearty.

The management team of Donie Rooney, Richie Barrett, Kieran O’Shea, Eoin Joy and Niall O’Meara were honoured for their role in guiding the senior team to All Ireland glory and presentations were made to each of them for their commitment and endeavour.

Donie and Richie who came up through the under- age ranks of Na Gaeil spoke of what this victory meant to them and said that the homecoming the team received on the night will live long in the memory.

They also thanked our generous sponsors who came on board for our Croke Park journey.  Dan O’Connor also made a presentation on behalf of all the players to Donie, Richie and Kieran who have stepped down from management. Kerry County Board Chairperson Tim Murphy was also present.

He congratulated the club on their magnificent achievement this year and for the great strides they have made in their short forty year history. He has no doubt but that they will feature strongly in the Intermediate Championship in the next few years.

The players were presented with their medals by Tim Lynch and Donie Rooney with Richie Barrett very eloquently saying a few words about each player as they received their medal.

Treasurer of the club Cathy Carey was presented with the Juvenile Club Person of the Year Award and there is no one more deserving of this accolade.

Cathy Carey with her award.

As Cathy went up to receive her award from Coiste na nÓg Chairperson Colm O’Súilleabháin she received a standing ovation from the packed hall which is testament to the high esteem in which she is held in the club.

She is involved in every aspect of club life and does a lot of unseen work behind the scenes outside her role as treasurer. Well done Cathy! After all the formalities were over the band “Celebrations” took to the stage and what a fantastic night of entertainment they provided.

The dance floor was packed all night long with young and old in a real celebratory mood. Indeed a great night was had by all. We extend a big thank you to the staff and management of the Meadowlands Hotel for serving up a most delicious meal and to the band “Celebrations” for their wonderful music and song on the night.

We would like to thank our hard working committee of Cathy Carey, Margaret Doody, Jennie Sheehy, Therese Keating, Agnes Sheehy and Tim Lynch jnr. for putting so much effort into organising this wonderful event.

Na Gaeil Juvenile Notes Monday February 24th 2019

UNDER 6 &8: Our U8s were out again in large numbers at the Kerry Sports academy facility IT Tralee. Coaches put everyone through an intensive yet enjoyable session. “Practice makes perfect so it’s important to practice all the skills at home as much as possible”. We will do it all again in two weeks. Remember next week session is in the Na Gaeil clubhouse. Please be there at 10.50am so we can start on time. All registration details have been posted on the Team WhatsApp group.

FAMILY DAY: Please remember that under 6 and under 8 training has been moved from the ITT to Na Gaeil on Sunday, March 1st. There will be a Family welcome and fun day in the clubhouse for meet and greet and eat. It will be a good opportunity for parents especially newcomers to meet and get to know the mentors and coaches.

UNDER 10: boys were delighted to get back outdoors on Sunday morning in the IT Astro. The pick-up and short kick passing were the main focus of the session. The coaches urged players to practise these skills at home and want to see an improvement in them by next week!  Thanks to Juliana for taking the pics this week and a big welcome to our new players Adam, Jack, Daragh and James!

Our U14s got back to training last Sunday morning on the hill at Na Gaeil pitch. Then on Monday night the lads took part in a gym session with JJ. There will be training again on Thursday night, time and venue to be confirmed. The “Comórtas an Earraigh” which was cancelled earlier this month may be going ahead next weekend.
