Intermediate Quarter Final    Na Gaeil have been drawn against An Gaeltacht in the quarter final of the Intermediate Championship. There is no definite date yet for the quarter final ties.

Co. Junior Football Leagues Na Gaeil were defeated by An Ghaeltacht in the first round of the Junior Football League in Killeen on Friday evening.

Minor Co. Championship   St. Brendan’s had a good win over Mid Kerry in the quarter final last Monday evening with all the Na Gaeil players doing well. They will play South-Kerry in the semi final on Monday evening August 24th in Killorglin at 6pm. We wish them the best of luck.

U14    Our U14 boys played away against Kerins O’Rahillys on Thursday evening in their 3rd and final game of the league. Na Gaeil got off to a shaky start having to line out without a few of their regulars due to injury.

After the first quarter the lads were down 5-01 to 0-02 and things were not looking good. However the boys upped their game after the water break and went in at half time down 5-04 to 2-05. J.J. made a couple of astute positional switches for the 2nd half and they worked a treat as our boys began to dominate proceedings yielding two early goals from Dylan McEneaney and Seán Barrett.

This was the boost our lads needed. It was point for point from then on until Ruairí O hAiniféin bagged a goal to leave us just a point in arrears. We finished the stronger, scoring three points in quick succession to run out winners in the end on a scoreline of 5-12 to 5-10. It was a remarkable victory considering our very shaky start. Full credit must go to the lads for never throwing in the towel and putting their shoulder to the wheel when the game seemed to be slipping away from them.

It will be remembered as a great team performance. Phase 1 of the league has now been completed in which the lads have recorded two victories and one defeat. We await news of Phase 2 fixtures. Training takes place again next Wednesday evening. We wish Darragh Cunningham a speedy recovery after picking up a knee injury in our game against Kerins O’Rahillys.

Team: Daragh Morris, Jamie Shhoenmaker, Oisín O’Sullivan, Fionn Heaslip, Kevin O’Donoghue, Ruairí O hAiniféin, Ruadhain Clifford, Seán Barrett, Jack Canty, Darragh Cunnungham, Liam Cooper, Conor Lucey, Paddy McElligott, Dylan McEneaney, Seán Morris, Seán Warr, Fionn O’Brien.

U10    After a few busy weeks of matches our U10 squad and their coaches enjoyed their Sunday morning training session. The focus of this session was on kick passing, hand passing over the bar and over-head fetching. The session ended with a game where all the players put in a great effort. We look forward to Milltown visiting us on Thursday next while we travel to Dr. Crokes on Sunday.

Clubhouse Open The clubhouse is open for food on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings from 6.30pm to 10.30pm. Club members can order a toasted sandwich, chips and salad plus a couple of more options for €9. Last food orders are at 8.45pm. This weekend went very well and there is very positive feedback from club members that availed of the service. Hope to see you there next weekend.

Clubhouse The clubhouse is closed for all outside activities and the gym will also be closed until there is further clarification from GAA Headquarters as to when they can re-open. This means that our Monday night bingo, Tuesday night lotto and Wednesday night card playing are suspended until then as well as all other activities that normally took place there on a weekly basis.

Clothes Collection There is now a Clothes Collection Bin situated in Na Gaeil car park for use by all members of the public.
