Na Gaeil TV: Watch out for Na Gaeil TV’s “The Green Flag”. Last Saturday night was the launch of episode 4 which was “As Gaeilge”. Its a showcase for everything Na Gaeil. Catch it on Na Gaeil’s Facebook page and other social media outlets.

Lotto results: Lotto Tue 22nd March. No winner. Numbers drawn were 3, 6, 22, 24. Lucky dip winners of €20 each were Katherine Duggan, Dónal Leahy, Noreen Dennehy, Marie Cregan, David Arthur. Next week’s jackpot will be €6,700.

Retirement Party: A very enjoyable retirement party took place in the club on Saturday last to mark Seán O’Connor’s retirement as Bar Manager. Seán was a founder member in 1978 & began his term as manager in 2002.

Tim Lynch, chairperson, thanked Seán for his dedication & commitment to the club down through the years.

The clubhouse has continued to grow as a focal point in the community for many different activities but, above all, it is the central meeting point for Na Gaeil members, young and old. Seán was central to arranging all these activities and he always conducted his work with enthusiasm, wit and charm. Seán himself claimed that his work was his hobby.

The sit-down meal was, as usual, excellent. This followed from the hard work of the many members who worked tirelessly to make it a success. These included Cathy Carey, Margaret Doody, Jenny Sheehy, Tracey Hurley & Jackie Carlos plus many others who contributed a seemingly endless supply of food which included desserts to die for.

Lenten resolutions can be renewed next year! Luigi Chiellini, well known chef around Ballylongford, happened to be visiting Tralee and gave unasked-for pointers to all in the kitchen. After the meal he gave a half hour session of comic singing and one-liners which had the audience in stitches.

It was really fabulous. Seán’s daughter Catríona, home from London with her family, gave a fine rendition of “Master of the House” from Les Misérables, and thanked all for such a great night for her dad.

To bring the formal or at least the semi-formal part of the night to a close there was a plaque unveiled & Seán was presented with a small gift from the club. The night continued until closing time, with an open mike which was kept busy by some fine singers & story tellers.

Kerry team: Good luck to the Kerry team, especially Diarmuid O’Connor & Jack Barry in the National League Div. 1 final against Mayo next Sunday at 4pm in Croke Park.

U14 girls: Div. 2 County League result: Na Gaeil 3-7, Beaufort 3-11.

U9 boys: Our u 9s were out in force last Sunday and were delighted to be on their home soil of Killeen. The boys are gradually getting used to the rules of the game and improving week on week. Training continues on Thursday from 6-7 pm.

U11 boys: We finally started back home in Killeen on a glorious Sunday morning. We concentrated on hand passing in possession and finished with a game of backs and forwards getting lads used to playing in their positions once again. The lads performed well and are always willing to learn.

U13 boys: Our U13’s had two teams that travelled back to An Gaeltacht last Sunday evening for the first round of the Co. League. Our first game was at 5.30pm where Na Gaeil Green team put in a fantastic performance against a fine An Gaeltacht team.

The football was outstanding by our lads who were always challenged by An Gaeltacht but we kept our composure and took some great scores. Defence was excellent, backed up by great goalkeeping. Midfield worked tirelessly to cover box to box. Final score was Na Gaeil 4-10 and An Gaeltacht 2-5.

Na Gaeil White team were on at 7pm and again a fine performance against a very strong An Gaeltacht team. Scores were fought hard for and midfield and the forwards worked excellently to take as many opportunities as they could.

We led at half time but An Gaeltacht came out fighting hard and it was our defence that was immense all through the second half and were able to keep the An Gaeltacht forwards out for the most part. Na Gaeil’s work rate and discipline was outstanding for the whole game and came out worthy winners in the end with a scoreline of 4-14 to 2-4.Thanks to An Gaeltacht for two fine sporting games.

U15 boys: The county league kicks off next Wednesday 30th March & we will be away to Listowel Emmets at 7pm. Gym will back next Friday from 6-7pm with our field session on Sunday morning.
