Senior A team

Last Sunday our senior team hosted Castleisland Desmonds in round 6 of the Div 2 County League. Our lads were missing a number of starters due to injury and Castleisland took full advantage to lead by 3-8 to 0-5 at halftime.

Na Gaeil started the 2nd half well, adding the first 3 points with the scores coming from Tomás Ó hAinféin, Eoin Doody and Dara Devine. However the remainder of the game was evenly contested with Desmonds never in danger of being reeled in by our lads.

Final score: Na Gaeil 0-10, Castleisland Desmonds 3-15. Team: John Kearney, Jack Doyle, Niall O’Mahony, Damien Bourke, Fergal Barry, Eoin Doody, Ryan O’Neill, Tomás Ó hAinféin, Eoin O’Neill, Kieran O’Donovan, Dan Goggin, Seán O’Connor, Darragh Reen, Jack Sheehan, Dara Devine.

U9 boys:Our under 9 boys visited Ardfert last Thursday evening where they enjoyed 4 games on the Astro. Thanks to Ardfert for hosting us & we look forward to welcoming them to Na Gaeil later in the season !

U11 boys: Another fantastic performance by both our u11 teams last Thursday night against our gracious hosts Firies. Our Older Team proved way too strong for our hosts and unfortunately weren’t really tested but you can get those days. The thing that pleased us was our tackling when we haven’t the ball. It just proves all the hard work in training is paying off. Well done everyone and the parents for supporting them.

Also a huge thank you to Siobhán & Fiona for the photos. Good performance from the younger U11s. Nothing seemed to go right and we met a very good Firies team.Still, great heart to keep trying till the end and lost out narrowly. Well done all.

U15 boys: Our lads took on Kilcummin last Wednesday night in the semi final of the County League Div 4 shield. Playing against the wind in the first half we got off to a good start with a pointed free from Liam followed soon afterwards by a Danny Kingston goal.

Kilcummin replied with 2 point but Na Gaeil dominated the 2nd quarter with points from Conor & Liam and 1-1 from Danny to leave the halftime score 2-4 to 0-3 in favour of our lads. The third quarter got off to a lively start and it took a point blank save by Iarla to keep Kilcummin at bay. Liam added 2 points as Kilcummin added one. Kilcummin were awarded a penalty which was brilliantly saved by Iarla.

He had also saved one in the first half. Two quick-fire goals by Danny and Ryan followed to give us a big lead heading into the last quarter. Kilcummin did add a goal to their tally but further points from Daragh and Danny saw us win on a scoreline of Na Gaeil 4-8, Kilcummin 1-5.

Thanks to the two u13 lads, Seán Óg and Gearóid, who made themselves available to us at very short notice due to us having a few late withdrawals. Team: Iarla Ó hAinféin, Jack Kelly, Jeaic Canty, Cathal Fitzgerald, Karl Cronin, Jamie Schoenmaker, Cillian Griffin, Daragh Morris, Conor Lucey, Ryan Sheehy, Liam Cooper, Jake Coffey, Paddy McElligott, Danny Kingston, Brian Reidy.
