Seniors: Na Gaeil hosted Laune Rangers in Round 8 of the Co League Div 2 last Sunday.

The game started badly for Na Gaeil with Stefan Okunbor sustaining an injury at the throw-in resulting in him being replaced. Despite this Na Gaeil were on the scoreboard first, knocking over 2 frees within the first 10 minutes.

Laune Rangers hit back with a goal to put them ahead but Na Gaeil scored 2 points to edge them in front again by a single point.

Unfortunately for Na Gaeil some sloppy defending in the final 10 minutes of the half saw Laune Rangers add 4 points without reply. Halftime score: Na Gaeil 0-4, Laune Rangers 1-4.

Within a minute of the restart Na Gaeil were level, Seán O’Connor crashing the ball to the net after a mix up in the visitors defence.

Laune Rangers didn’t panic though and added 4 points without reply in 10 minutes. A long range point from Tomás Ó hAinféin cut the gap to 3 points but that was as close as Na Gaeil could get. Both sides added 3 points each to their total before the end.

A last minute goal-bound effort by Na Gaeil’s Eoin O’Neill was blocked and the referee blew the final whistle. Final score Na Gaeil 1-8, Laune Rangers 1-11.
