Review of our U9 boys season: The Na Gaeil under-9 boys had a fantastic season in 2022. The boys travelled the length and breadth of the county and beyond and displayed some wonderful football throughout the season.

Training started in early February in the MTU. The trainers put close to 40 boys through their paces on the astro and started working on their basic football skills. After a couple of weeks, the boys moved to Na Gaeil’s home soil in Killeen where match season preparations began in earnest.

The boys participated in two series of Go Games organised by the County Board as well as playing a multitude of challenge games against teams from all over the county. The second-year under 9s participated in the wonderfully organised Milltown / Castlemaine blitz, the under 9 Munster Football Blitz held in Mallow and the under 10 Austin Stacks Blitz held in October.

The boys trained twice a week during the season and the younger under 9s committed to a third weekly session to improve their basic skills. Head coach Helen Tansley would like to thank her fantastic team of mentors, Mike O’Toole, Peter O’Driscoll, John Murphy, Christian McCarty, Cristo Murray, Niall Trant, Gordon Lunn, Jerry Clifford, Mark Reidy and Theo Dulka for a wonderful season. Roll on 2023!!
